You guys ride safe when you go.

The hang gliders are gone, the Elsinore valley is filled with track homes, Ortega is a commuter road for those that chose to buy homes in Elsinore valley and commute to Orange county.

Unfortunately, the good old days are long gone. I rarely ride Ortega any more. Too dangerous with the number of brain-dead car drivers that use it now.

Back in the day I too rode Ortega, every weekend. I have fond memories of the good old days.

Okay So Cal CB1100 riders, let's try and find a date in 2016 that works for most of you and get a critical mass of CB1100's together for a ride. GO! The ferret

Dang... sorry to learn of all this, Tink.

I escaped SoCal 20 years ago.. only went back once in '01. Was shocked then.

Nonetheless, you Cal guys enjoy your ride and keep 'em upright.

RE: So Cal Ride
Hello forum members, I'm in South Orange County (California) and would like to connect with other Honda riders for a day outing. I'm in Portola Hills right on El Toro Road. Keep posting events and let's ride.

I've got a 2013 CB1100 which my wife won on "Let's Make A Deal" television game show. This got me back in the saddle again after 20 years. I've been riding the Santiago Canyon and the other side roads. The bike has been great to drive to Laguna Beach, especially when I go snorkeling - parking is easy.

Hi CB1100 forum members in South Orange County - let's connect and meet up. What about meeting for breakfast and then a ride? I'm in Portola Hills (Lake Forest / Mission Viejo).

That's an awesome, but also pretty random, prize. I always though these those prizes were donated in exchange for publicity, seems weird Honda would do this with a CB.

Well it is not quite as bad as all that. Somehow I manage to ride in this awful, overpopulated cesspool and love nearly every minute of it. Even the freeways. I do a lot of freeway riding; it's a challenge, I think it's fun. Just part of the deal. Maybe the year-long riding season and myriad winding roads and drastic changes in geography have something to do with it. I haved lived in the middle of nowhere. I much prefer living in the middle of somewhere, even if several million other people also think it's a good idea lol. As a westerner it took me decades to figure out how to live in close quarters with so many people; the problem was me, not them. The Golden Rule still applies, even in the city.

No doubt traffic patterns have changed on some roads, Ortega Highway being one that even 20 years ago I felt was a bad idea. Never rode it, never plan on it. There are other roads, many of them, not so well-known, still empty much of the time. Wherever y'all ride, have a safe return home.Beer
