Shipping, Japan, Mr T
I watched and listened as all did their praises of Mr T. I was skeptical at first, but have become a believer - almost.

My rear rack is inbound after order processing by Mr T. There are no more ground shipments when dealing with 1-offs from overseas. The only way something is viable "ground" is if you intend to fill up an entire sea container with your items and then it is apx 8 weeks enroute - due mostly to processing. The actual shipment takes 2-3 weeks. So, apx $50usd for "air" is not too bad.

It took 2 days for processing and shipment to NY (receiving area - why there vs LA or west coast beats me). I should receive my rack this week - then I'll be a full believer. Tracking info along the entire journey is very timely and detailed. I was pleasantly surprised that the USPS system is able to use the original EMS tracking number assigned by Japan Post. Not a bad way to get parts after all. Thanks everyone.Thumbs Up

RE: Shipping, Japan, Mr T
If the local post office does it's job, parts arrive at my house 60 to 72 hours after Mr. T ships them. He's located within throwing distance from the Tokyo International airport which is a big plus.

Webike is generally slower. Packages from them can take up to 3 days just to get to the Tokyo airport.

I've rarely encountered customs delays but have waited weeks for "built to order" parts to get to Takashi. It's always been worth the wait.

The luggage rack I ordered from Mr T came within 2 days of being shipped. From Tokyo to Maryland, USA is pretty darn fast.

Same here. A day and a half to New Jersey after he shipped it. I think 48 hours from the time I placed the order!

RE: Shipping, Japan, Mr T
I started emailing Mr T on the 17th and actually placed the order on the 23rd. Mr T shipped it on the 27th, left Tokyo on the 28th, arrived NY 29th, now waiting on USPS for final delivery - 7 days so far including Sat & Sun actual transit days. I guess it will be apx 10-14 days total.

Update 12/01: Last update still shows it in NY a/o 2 days ago (may have moved, but not shown on tracking). USPS is always the weakest link unless using overnight or short distance Priority Mail.

I ordered a pair of the hand guards from Takashi and they shipped on the 25th, the day before Thanksgiving. They arrived today, just 5 days to Kansas. That's through a weekend and holiday. I know Japan doesn't observe Thanksgiving, but a package still has to make it through the US Mail, and the holiday to get to anywhere in the USA.

RE: Shipping, Japan, Mr T
Final Update - Good news bad news. First good, the rack arrived Tue 12/01. Bad news, I had no idea it was going to show up until it was delivered. USPS never provided a single update. Just the initial arrival into JKF - probably provided by Japan Post. It took 2 days to clear NY and then on to FL using "overnight". So 8 days total.

I'll be installing the rear rack today after I download the instructions in English.
