Missed a great buy

Hi l'm new to the forum. I've been thinking about a 2014 DLX and came across one at a used bike dealer in upstate NY. It only had 243 miles and they were asking $8995. I talked to the dealer and he offered me the bike for $8500. I told him I wanted to think about it and called him back two hours later and the bike was sold. Stupid me for dragging my feet. I'll keep looking but I'm really kicking myself in the behind for not grabbing it. I'm in the middle of rebuilding a 68 CB450 so that's keeping me occupied at the moment.

Welcome! the CB 450 is a nice bike. I had a 68 or 69, it was green. My brother had a red one. Really nice motorcycle.

Used Dlxs are pretty rare ( NEW DLXs were pretty rare..used ones are real rare). If you looking for a DLX specifically you are going to have to have a ton of patience and strike without hesitation if one pops up.

I will grab the next one that shows up nearby for sure. If one shows up. I'm trying to post pictures of my 68 before I started the rebuild and a few progress pictures but I have to figure out how to do it from my iPad.

Here is a pic of the the 68 before I started the rebuild. It doesn't look it in the picture but shes a little crusty with pitted chrome and chipping paint. I'll post up some progress pictures when I get home from work after I check craigslist for an 1100.

I really do want the DLX, I like the dual pipes. I can get the standard model from the dealer but I'm holding off. I just like everything about the red bike.

G'day and welcome, Mike. That's a glorious CB450. I didn't realize they came with a front disc brake as early as that.

Good catch on the disc. It has a disc setup from a 71 or 72, which I feel is a period correct modification. It also has a 69 or 70 seat because the 68 seat was very thin with little padding. Those are the reasons I'm saying that I'm rebuilding the bike and not restoring it. It should look close to new when I'm done though.

Where do you get parts for these old bikes? With luck, I'll be ordering vintage CB1100 parts from them in a few decades!
