RE: New Guy in Dallas, TX and a Couple Questions
If you guys put together a ride, let me know; I might like to join you. I think we have CB1100 members in Mesquite, Dallas, Sherman, Grand Prairie and Greenville, all here in North Texas. It would be cool to get a bunch of us together for some pictures.

Cliff (CWA5534) posted up a thread in Meetups where we can put this together.

I look forward to meeting y'all.

Cman... if you're thinking about Clark's Outpost in Tioga sorry, it burned down a couple of weeks ago.

It was my favorite BBQ place here in Texas. They may or may not rebuild.

Good luck with your test rides...

Ya, that's what/where I was thinking...didn't know that! A number of us from the car club I belonged to used to go there every so often.

Welp, I've been kinda quiet while I decided what to do, but that's not unusual for me on forums.

Today, I traded my FJ-09 and picked up a XSR900. I still have a soft spot for the CB1100 though and they had a new one at the dealer that I kept sitting on while I waited for them to do the paperwork (gesh, dealerships are slow Wink ).

Here's an obligatory picture if you're interested... She's a sweet ride and seems like a good blend of what I liked in the FJ and what I liked in the CB.

İmage

Hopefully y'all don't mind me coming around here from time to time. Seems like a great group of folks. And, I'm still hoping to join some of you for a ride in the DFW area.

Ferret, will do once I have got a few more miles on it. Only at 60 now. But, with that said, MUCH less wind, MUCH less buffeting, very smooth fueling, and more stable (reminds me of the CB1100 with regards to stability)!

You guys riding Sunday morning? If so, what time will you be back in the metro?

I'm meeting some good friends of mine, so I figured timing wouldn't work to join y'all.

RE: New Guy in Dallas, TX and a Couple Questions
I shared your issues. I just picked up my new cb1100 today, and am already having issues with the accessories, see modifications section, but I originally went into the dealership intending to purchase a NC700. Good size, liquid cooled, built in storage, good practical bike. But as I was kicking tires I glanced over and saw the cb1000, went home and did my research, (found this wonderful forum) and ended up buying the cb1100. Why?
For me riding motorcycles is a passion. It's dangerous, somewhat expensive, and to enjoy it you have to take time away from home and family. So to make it worth the price, you have to enjoy it tremendously. A large part of the passion for me is the visual image you have of yourself on your bike.
I grew up in the 70's and the cb is what bikes looked like when I first fell in love with bikes for the first time. For me it's just what I want a bike to look like, in addition to being able to do all that I could ask of it.
I had a psychiatrist tell me that we spend our adult life trying to reproduce the happy memories of our childhood.
Just some thoughts.
safe riding.
