A test ride will certainly tell you what you need to know. One thing you will notice, it sits a lot lower than the FJ. You asked about vibes and some members report a buzziness between 4,000 and 5,000 rpms. Bothers some, doesn't bother most. Since 4000 rpms on the 6 speed translates to over 80 mph I never feel it since speed limits and road conditions back here in rural Ohio where I live rarely permit such speed. Ridden below 80 mph this bike is creamy smooth.

I didn't take your post that way. Your brought up some of the practical things I've thought about. I know the FJ is a really good bike and has some things that the CB doesn't have. If I was more enamored by it than I am, I wouldn't even be looking at another bike. I like (and agree) what EmptySea said.

We sound a little bit alike. I loved the S2000 so much I bought 2 of them and they were a homage to the old S600/S800's.

The CB has more than enough giddy-up to out-accelerate most cars on the road: 0-60 in 3.3s. That's as fast or faster than most super-cars. Getting on the fwy is not an issue. It's just a great all around bike.

Welcome to the forum, CMan. Lots of good members here to help sway you over to the CB1100, but I like the argument to follow your lust! It seems to hold true for me with past motorcycle and auto purchases. It's the reason you were attracted to this beautiful retro bike. Good luck with your research.

Welcome!Hello The CB is a easy bike to ride and pretty comfortable. Like Ferret said, stay below 75 and you'll never experience vibration. Be sure to take a long test ride and ride it just like you were riding to work. I'm sure you'll find it pretty nice. The ferret

Ya it is, but I'm used to long miles... well, in a car/truck that is.

The ride would be serve a duel purpose. I read all these great cross country tours on various motorcycle forums and they should great! And, I figure I could scope out my eventual route for when I ride my bicycle from Dallas to Richmond. Big Grin

Welcome. Good luck deciding which bike you will end up with. The only thing that matters is that you enjoy riding the bike you decide on.

C-man, the CB has a oil temp, warning light that will come on before any heat issues affect the CB's motor. You could probably experience less heat coming off the motor than a faired bike with a water cooler. If Arizona riders have no heat issues, I doubt you will except sitting in freeway traffic in Dallas may be a lot worse than Phoenix.

G'day and welcome CMan. There's a point at which the temperature becomes unbearable for riding. It seems to affect me more than the CB. That said, I don't ride in the city too often.

I know little about riding from Dallas to Richmond; I do know you could organize it so the Tail of Dragon and the Blue Ridge Parkway were on the route and that would be fantastic on any bike. I know, too, that once you find a solution to the seat that works for you, the CB is lots of fun to tour on.

Good luck with your decision.
