RE: Rally Down Under
Cormanus suggested I reach out in a post to the fellas in Sydney about housing, so here I go.
I have arranged for an AirB&B place in the Annandale neighborhood (near the bike rental depot) for the first night after I arrive and then we rally the next day. But I have five days after the rally ends to poke around Sydney. If you have some room and would like some company, I'd be awfully grateful.

It's less a money thing than a wanting to be a part of the local scene thing, if you know what I mean. And I'm keeping the bike for the entire visit and hope to ride out of town more, so I may be out and about most of the time and likely for a night or two. So flexibility in accommodation would be really nice.

I don't take up much room, I don't snore, and I will buy the beer. What could go wrong? Thumbs Up

Anyhow, please let me know if you have a spot in your home.
Thanks!
Bob

RE: Rally Down Under
At this stage, the only overseas visitor for this remarkable event is Inhouse Bob. Thanks, Bob.

On the basis that Bob plans to be in Australia from 15-27 March and to have a bike for most of that, I thought to myself, why not just go riding for all of it? That way Bob will not have to wrestle with Sydney traffic more than once or twice. Nor will I!

So, Australian forum members who have expressed interest in this event, how would that work for you? We'd leave Sydney on 16 March and get back on around 24 March. My preliminary thoughts are to head for the high country and Victoria before winding back up through the high country to the coast to Sydney.

However, I could come up with a route that would get us back with in sight of Sydney on around 21 or 22 March so people could peel off if they want to. In that case I'd suggest not going so far south and maybe doing a few days to the north of Sydney.

There's a map of my preliminary southern ride thoughts here. Each day is a layer and you can turn them on and off as you see the need.

Thoughts, suggestions, arguments, contradiction are all welcome.

I will also use my moderator super-powers to push this into the 'important threads' are of this forum. Smile

+1 with Chaponis. We've got an 10 day trip to S. Korea planned for May to see my globetrotting daughter... wish I could have figured out how to do both. Ah maybe in a few years when I'm retired...

Gee, ride4now, you could come to Sydney in March, ride with us and then have a ell-earned rest for a month or so before heading to South Korea. Big Grin

Just kidding of course. I hope we'll all still be here when you get around to retiring.

I will be attending the VJMC rally in early March at Tamworth. I will probably go to my sisters place in Nowra afterwards. It seems a bit of a trek to go back to Brissy and then ride south to Sydney again. Should be able to pick you guys up on the highway when you head south. Stop for a coffee and check out my brother in laws man cave.

Hey Cormanus if there's a good weather forecast I'll aim to meet you guys for beer when you're within striking range from Melbourne ... with my bike set up I'm limited to just a few hours in the saddle between chiropractic sessions Thumbs Up I'll stay in touch via the phone.

Fantastic, Aussieflyer.

I'm still playing with the route. You can come and join us for the night somewhere maybe.

I'll try to make sure you can ride around in a big anticlockwise circle. Tongue
