RE: 2017 CB1100 Rally - Location and Date Discussion
KY in June works for me. I'm sad I missed the 2nd Rally this year.
I will be basing in Cherokee, NC June 21st to June 23rd this year if anyone is in the area and want to meet up for a ride, let me know.
Works perfect for my wife to entertain herself during the day but gives me access to Cherohala Skyway and the Dragon.
I know we rode this last year, but when I find something I like, I tend to repeat it ;-) I do like the idea of elevation cooling even the hottest of days ;-)

I know some great places to ride in Central Kentucky. DItto for some areas just north of here based around Elkins West Virginia. In Wva I know curvy roads 100 miles long. PA also has some excellent riding, as does SE Ohio which even though my home state we based this years Fall Men's Ride out of Marrietta.
My vote would go to West Virginia
I'll second WVa .. Elkins is a nice central place.. Near by are 33, 250, 219, etc.. There is a super 8 that has held hsta events hat should hold everyone

I would cast a vote for Central KY which is actually more central, to the extent that either is, than is West Virginia. I'd also cast a vote for Arkansas. I'll ride to any of the places mentioned (except Australia), but it might be nice to choose a spot that folks from Texas, Colorado, and other west-of-the-Mississippi states would find more accessible.
Not giving up on lobbying for SW Wisconsin, either. Some great roads (yes, they curve), a couple of craft breweries, the possibility of pie and a ferry ride. Good stuff. Maybe even a farm dinner or breakfast for the crew.

If we go a little south ie marlington is also a good spot.. It'd be about
I've stayed here
http://www.marlintonmotorinn.com
It'd be about 2.5 hours northwest of this years rally..
Either Elkins or Marlington I can help with

RE: 2017 CB1100 Rally - Location and Date Discussion
Back to the "when":
Did a little checking and it looks like I'd be available the first or third weekends in May (Daughter's commencement from Miami University is the weekend of 5/13). Memorial Day is the fourth weekend which is probably a no-go for most folks based on discussions surrounding previous rallies.
First or fourth weekend in June work for me, too. Second weekend is son's commencement from Lawrence University and third Sunday is Father's Day, so they'd be out for me.
First weekend in July would also be out for me, unless we were rallying in Wisconsin because that is my group's annual Independence weekend in Spring Green and I could be there a few days before or stay a few days after for a rally there.
Obviously, there has to be a consensus on dates and I'm aware that the dates I am unavailable may be the dates that work best for the majority.

West Virginia??? Maybe the South East crew ought to split off and have an old fashioned southern rally? You guys keep moving it north...
Although... Austrailia mght actually work for me. That's south!

I'm down for almost anywhere! Just means more or less riding to get there.
As for when, my vote would be anytime after mid May. Working in Higher Ed, I just can't get time off before then.

Yes to that, already on my calendar

I've been in Pittsburgh PA since '83, but I was born and raised near Elkins! Man how I miss having all of those great roads in my backyard... almost heaven!!!
