RE: Tires
Hey Ferret, Not for nothing but the front tire on my CB1100 wore out at about 4500 miles, especially on the left side due to crowned roads. The rear should go at least another 2500. I ride pretty fast on very twisty back roads and use the front brakes a lot. This might be considered an anomaly, but my Gold Wing is also wearing out the fronts sooner than the rears and I am on about the 4th set. KTM Superduke wasted both tires in 2500 miles times 3 sets.
Years ago, most of my bikes wore the rear out first, but that no longer appears the case. Depends on how you ride. By the way, I check my tire pressure regularly and usually run at the higher end of the bikes recommended pressures.
On one further point - SLIME portable compressors work great, are light and the bike batteries can handle them. For about 25 bucks, I put one in a couple of my bikes.
