RE: Oil
Automotive motor oils contain friction modifiers that are not compatible with wet clutch setups used on many motorcycles; hence the need for motorcycle specific oils. I plan to use full synthetic motorcycle grade oil in my bike. Each to his own but I have used synthetics for years in all my autos and never had an oil related issue. Synthetics are far superior to standard oil at handling heat and have far greater shear strength. While I am sure the Honda specific oil is good, I plan to us a 10W30 full synthetic made by Repsol, Amsoil, or Castrol in my bike.

RE: Oil
I'm a huge fan of BMW oil. Spectro makes it for them and the stuff works great for air-cooled motors. I'm going with 10w-40 full syn, helps me sleep better too......
I tried Redline 10w40 this weekend, real happy with the results. Almost lost the sewing machine sound when hot. They say it's a step up from most.

RE: Oil
Hello everyone.

There's a lot of mis-information in this thread in regard to motor oil.

A very good source of real world information is http://www.bobistheoilguy.com

Members send in used oil samples and post the analysis.
There are forums for just about everything, including motorcycles.

Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with that website, but I've been a member there for many years.

Now please excuse me while I go off and introduce myself. ;-)
