I tried registering THREE times last night on my iPad but it kept crashing. So tonight I waited til wife was done on her puter and it worked.

my iPad is old and decrepit kinda like me. Sad

The site works pretty good from a PC, but i'm not sure it's very mobile friendly and I have a very old iPad, too, so I know that some websites just do not want to work with it anymore. I keep it for checking email, but that's it.

RE: Eureka Springs Rally June, 2017 - The List
Great Ride.

Made a ride that I would highly suggest for those coming to the Eureka gathering. Eureka to Jasper Arkansas. Lunch at the Ozark Diner and back.
Right around 200 miles, beautiful scenery, mountains, curves galore and a great dining destination.
I took 23 south out of Eureka to hwy 74 East.
23 is very good pavements, some scenery, moderate traffic.
74 is good to very good pavement. Great scenery, up and down through the mountains, 10% grades and very moderate traffic.
At kingston turn onto 21 east, even more mountainous that 74 with a real drop down into the Buffalo River valley.
Turn north onto which takes you up the Buffalo River valley.
The Buffalo River is the nations first National Scenic River and is protected on all sides. There's pull off's here to watch Elk come out of the woods at dusk to feed in the fields. Green fields surrounded by mountains on all sides, just a beautiful area.
A few miles up the valley you turn right onto highway which takes you across the head water put in for the Buffalo River and immediately back up the mountains. There's a second gear section that goes up the side of a mountain, followed by a second gear engine braking descent into the Steel Creek access to the Buffalo. What makes the Buffalo special is the 500 foot sheer cliffs that loom above it. There's a great view of some of the cliffs at the Steel Creek access point.
Then it's a second gear climb back out and back on 74, through Low Gap, across Mt. Sherman then the descent into Jasper which sits on the river.
The Ozark Cafe has been there since 1909, and is a very folksy place with hundreds of antique photo's on the wall showing the history of the area. Menu? Any place with 19 different burgers on the menu is ok by me. I had the Ozark Burger: 1/2 pound burger with everything, crispy hickory bacon, cheese, add the fried egg and you really have something.
It isn't often I can't finish a burger, but I didn't this one. Thought I'd have to reset the suspension on the bike for the trip back.
Retraced my route back, but turned north on 43, up through Ponca and turned WNW onto 103. First time for me on this road and it was a wonderful surprise. Good road that follows a valley that runs north, so it's somewhat flat with plenty of curves and beautiful farmland.
The whole area is pretty scarce, Newton county just got it's first stop light last year. Be sure to gas up at the only gas station in Jasper, it's the only you'll see on the way back to Eureka.
If you like curves, mountains, good lunches and more curves this is a great ride for you.

Crutch. Thanks for the route. I will have to go back in my notes, but I think I've ridden almost the exact route you've laid out. If so, I can attest to how good it is.

I've been working with InHouseBob and physics_teacher to create a series of "Route Cards" for each attendee. I will make sure that this route, or something very similar, is included in the packet. In addition to the route cards, each rider will be receiving motorcycle riding guides from the local tourism board in their welcome packets.

If anyone else familiar with the area has a route suggestion, let me know it--we may put it on a route card if it's not already. If not, we may have you bring it along to distribute at the rally.

It's kind of my hope that there will be some riders on each route each day followed by much comparing of notes each evening.

[note: this thread is really for conversation related to attendance at the rally. There is another thread here better suited to these types of conversation]

The List (rev. 03.21.2017) (Still looking for registrations from twood and crutch. There still may be one room left at The Trails inn and there are, I believe, several available at Edelweiss Inn. Why not join us? Smile )

Please let me know if you have an addition, deletion, or need to be moved from one category to another. I would love to update this with a few more names...

Important: I need all participants to register at CB1100 Ride the Ozarks as soon as possible. I need to get everyone's real names and some other information so that I can coordinate with the hotel and so we can get the correct number and sizes of t-shirts. I will mark the list below with an ® next to the names of those I have as registered.

STILL NEED REGISTRATIONS FOR CRUTCH AND TWOOD. ALSO, STILL LOOKING FOR ROOM# FOR HAYSTACK.

As of now we have 17 riders and at least on guest passenger. It's getting real, people!

The 17 registered riders represent 11 different states. Pretty impressive.

My youngest brother has stage 4 lung cancer and has taken a turn for the worse. Sorry for my slowness to respond. I am going to cancel for now. The riding is fantastic down there. You all have a good trip.
