Columbus Day Weekend 2016
On October 6, I will ride to Sanford, FL and together with my CB will get in the Amtrak Auto Train. On the morning of the 7th I will get off the train in Lorton, VA to meet with my son somewhere around Charlottesville, ride to the northern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway and start our way south on it. We will ride the whole BRP.

I still don't have all the details figured out but expect it to be a good time. Preliminary plans are to get to Meadows of Dan on Friday, Cherokee on Saturday, go see Wheels Through Time, find a place to spend the night and on Sunday start our way home.

Any of you are welcome to join us!

THE BRP is a great ride. Know you will enjoy spending time with your son and riding the ribbon. Don't forget to hit Mt Mitchell. . A great place to stay motorycle friendly is Skyline Village Inn at Milepost 331 on the BRP. Mike the owner is a motorcyclist and caters to us. Covered parking, great views from the hotel and there is a great restaurant withing walking distance that sells "p'od shrimp" a spicy shrip dish then you could ride Rts 226 and 226A (The Diamondback) either in the evening before dinner or in the morning before getting back on the BRP which is a couple hundred yards away. They also have a beer and wine shop, and they serve breakfast inn house. We stayed there for the Fall Mens Trip last year. Highly recommended.

tell Mike you read about his place in Roadrunner Magazine and you should get a good discount.

I live about 25 miles from little Switzerland on the BRP. Will follow your planning on this forum and perhaps meet up and ride south for a while with you. Lots of great roads besides the parkway if you have the time. You can PM me if you'd like some ideas. PS, I was a Floridian until about 7 months ago. Melbourne.
