The best part about growing up in Florida is i didn't have to move here when i got old.

It doesn't matter how good of a rider you think you are. You're putting your life, and the life of your passenger, into the hands of every other driver you meet on the road. Think about it. That's not a gamble worth taking. Nice bike, BTW.
Ride more. Worry less.

Let's not be too hard on him. He probably doesn't ride like that all the time, plus being an adult he gets to choose how he dresses when he rides, like we all do.

About the only thing I'd add for a short trip to the beach (assuming that speeds are at 25-30mph) is a helmet. I ride my pedal bike with less protection than he or she has on (except for the helmet).

Its a Florida thing , during the heat of the summer I wear less than that and enjoy the breeze !

I've been riding in FL for over 15 years now and I understand the desire to ride with less gear very well. I rode southeastern New England for nearly 20 years before I moved here. I had never ridden without a good riding jacket before I came here and for my first Florida summer I still wore it. The second year I decided I would ride in a t-shirt, and it was really tough to get used to. I really felt exposed and vulnerable. I've gotten used to it now and ride in a t-shirt about half the year. I still feel relieved when it gets cool enough for the jacket again. Just a few more weeks now and the jacket will be back in full-time use. I've been wearing it at night now for a couple of weeks.
I've still never ridden in shorts, and don't ever plan to. I've never ridden without a helmet and don't ever plan to. Good shoes with ankle support are necessary for me simply for comfort.
All that said, I agree with individual choice. I don't gear up based on anyone else's opinion.
